Mission, vision & history of the smartphone service provider

Before selecting any smartphone service provider, you must understand what their mission and vision is they want to achieve. This gives you glimpse what each smartphone service providers’ main aim is to even have a business that serve customers.

Besides the mission and vision of the smartphone service provider, a person must also know their history in the industry. Nobody wants to do business with any kind of business that has no proven record of providing good services. It is a gamble to do business with smartphone service provider that is unknown to you and haven’t done your research about them. Especially if the smartphone service provider is relatively new in your area.

The best way to obtain any information about smartphone service providers, is by doing research on the internet. You can do that by simply just visiting the smartphone service provider’s website. Usually their mission and vision is listed somewhere on their website. Plus some smartphone service providers like to showcase what they achieved on their websites as well.

If you are not happy with the amount of history information you gather from the smartphone service provider’s website, then you can simply go on Google and search the history of the smartphone service provider by just typing in “their name + history”. Articles about the smartphone service provider will be revealed to you then.

Here is a few direct links about the smartphone service providers in South Africa:

Level of customer service the smartphone service provider provides

Now that you know more what the smartphone service provider is aiming for to achieve with its business and what they want to provide to us customers, we must know how is the level of customer service they provide to us customers. This factor is very important, no matter which industry you enter into.

If the customer service level of any business is bad, customers tend to go away and do their business else where. It is the same in the smartphone industry. Customers want to work with a smartphone service provider that is supporting the customer, no matter which phase they are in a deal or even after a sale is made.

Customers want to know they can go to their smartphone service provider with anything regarding their smartphone connectivity and they will get help. Of course, customers must also understand when they go to the smartphone service provider, they must be reasonable and not rude. If you are going to be rude, then sadly the service from the smartphone service provider will not be as expected and may take longer to satisfy any problems you may be experiencing.

However, some customers become rude and frustrated by the poor service they receive from the smartphone service provider. When this occurs, they tend to post online about the bad service. This can be done by posting it under the specific smartphone service provider store on Google or even on any of the smartphone service providers’ social pages.

This is really bad for the smartphone service providers when this happens as it can cause new potential customers not to make use of their services and go to their competitors. Plus existing customers might also leave if their contracts are about to end with the specific smartphone service provider.

The good thing when current customers complain online, you can easily do research about the smartphone service provider’s customer service level as you can view them easily. You can see how many reviews are bad and good same time. This will definitely help you to avoid making the wrong smartphone service provider selection and spare from many headaches.

Just remember when reading these reviews to take note of the following:

  • Make sure the complaints are consistent and repeating. When a bad service is repeating, it will be repeated in the reviews by more than one user. Never listen just to one negative review versus a million positive reviews. That one negative review user may be lying and may even be that smartphone service provider’s competitor that tries to sabotage them.
  • Take note it smartphone service provider is communicating back to these reviews. It is good customer service when the smartphone service provider reaches out to all reviews they received from customers. It shows they are involved and want to make sure their customers are always satisfied. If there are no replies to these reviews, then you know the smartphone service provider does not care about the customers review and insight which is really bad.

By following these notes, you will be able to determine immediately which smartphone service provider is the best to do business with for you.

Signal strength of the smartphone service provider

After that you have done your research about the smartphone service providers’ history, mission and customer service level, now its time to see if they provider the necessary signal strength you require for your smartphone. This is the most critical factor to consider when comes to selecting a smartphone service provider to provide you a smartphone service.

If there is no signal strength in your area from the smartphone service provider, then there is no point to do business with them at all. It same goes with if there is signal, but the signal is very weak and causes issues for you as a customer.

The best way to know if there is signal in your area, is by visiting some stores’ websites online which has a coverage map feature. The coverage map will take your desired location where you will stay or be at majority and see if there is really any signal. This is a useful feature that will help you to do research about the signal strength in your area and prevent you to make a physical visit in a store just to determine if there is signal in your area and if it is good.

Here are some quick links from the smartphone service providers who has a coverage map feature:

Hope these links will be useful for you. If you want to test the speed of different smartphone service providers in person, you can do so with application called Ookla Speed Test. This useful application physically checks the signal strength of any smartphone service provider in the area where the device is currently. It can be a smartphone or a router, it does not matter.

The only catch is, you need to test the different networks with different active sim cards from each other smartphone service provider. You can easily do that by either buying a prepaid sim card at each smartphone service provider and place each one at a time in your smartphone when you going to run the application.

If you do not want to buy prepaid sim cards, you can just simply ask your friend which smartphone service provider do they make use of. If they use of a smartphone service provider you want to know more about in signal strength, then simply install the application on their smartphone and test the application on it. You will get the signal readings you desire and know if that is a smartphone service provider you want to make use of their services.

Here is an example how the Ookla speed test application works:

Match your smartphone preferences with a smartphone service provider offering

Then the final factor that you must consider when selecting a smartphone service provider. Make sure your smartphone preferences matches with what the smartphone service provider is offering to you.

There is no point to select a smartphone service provider that does not offer what your smartphone preferences are. I mentioned this before, it is really important you know your smartphone preferences to ensure you make the right smartphone selection in many posts before. If you are not sure what I am talking about, visit the following page to read more about it.

By knowing what your smart preferences are, you will be able to select a smartphone service provider that offers the best service that you desire or need. Many offers from different smartphone service providers may look similar, but actually they are not.

For example, a Huawei Nova 8i may go at MTN side for R249pm for 24 months with 100 minutes and 1GB. Whereas from Vodacom, offers the same device at R349pm for 24months with 50 minutes and 2GB.

Thus, it is important to compare different offerings from each smartphone service provider to find the best suitable offer that will match your smartphone preferences. You can easily view these different offerings online at each smartphone service providers’ websites.

You can also download the different smartphone service providers’ deal booklets directly from our site which is either on the side of this post or below. It all depends on which device you are using to read this post.

Conclusion

By following and doing research about these steps we mentioned, you will be able to find the right smartphone service provider for your smartphone connectivity needs. Just remember that you do thoroughly research for each step to avoid any disappointments.

I wrote this post to ensure no disappointment happens to you. I have witness a lot of different people who regret making the wrong smartphone service provider selection. It causes a lot of headaches for the customer. Thus, to avoid these issues and disappointments, please follow through each factor.

  1. I was unaware that smartphone service providers are in anyway different from each other beyond reception and service area. How do the service providers in the United States compare to the ones you listed in South Africa?

Online reviews have vastly improved our understanding about customer service. If we want to know how well something is we look for all the complaints on the product to get the other side of the story. Ads usually only speak about the best parts of the product. Reviews are either neutral or it speaks on the negative side of the product. You are correct, if multiple customers have similar complaints it is a common problem with the product. You can avoid these problems by following the advice of the reviews. Or you can take a chance if the reviews are out dated.

    • Hi Alex

The world has evolved a lot. It is so much easier to find a review of a product or service. Thus, companies must always make sure they provide the correct services to their customers. If not, they will lose potential customers.

The US smartphone service providers are the same in this regard. I know that Verizon has signal in South Africa even though they are not based here. But you will be able to use the same factors no matter which country you are in.
