Huawei Nova Y60

The main features that stand out for the Huawei Nova Y60 are the following:

  • Power button – The power button on the side of the Huawei Nova Y60 is a fingerprint sensor as well. This is a great extra security feature to prevent other people to gain access to your smartphone as well speed up the unlocking process for the owner of the smartphone.
  • Size – The Huawei Nova Y60 has a fantastic big screen display. Something that will attract users that love big screen display smartphones.
  • Battery Capacity – The Huawei Nova Y60 has a battery life that will last for almost a whole day and a half. That is a long battery life, especially if you need smartphone that can last long before it has to have the need to recharge.
  • Expandable Storage – The Huawei Nova Y60 has the capability to expand its storage memory on board. The maximum memory storage it can take is 512GB. Not many of smartphones that come out today, still provide a section to expand physical storage memory on board. Thus, is a great feature to have still.

The main concerns for the Huawei Nova Y60 are the following:

  • Camera specs – The camera specs of the Huawei Nova Y60 are quite low compared to other mid range smartphones’ camera specs. This may result users not to select this smartphone due for this reason.
  • RAM – The RAM memory of the Huawei Nova Y60 is good. However, there are faster mid range smartphones that have 6GB RAM memory capacity. Meaning the other mid range smartphones can process data and applications faster than the Huawei Nova Y60.
  • Storage – Huawei Nova Y60’s storage memory on board is quite low compared to other mid range smartphones available that offer 128GB storage memory on board. This forces a user must purchase or obtain extra storage memory in the means of external memory cards to ensure they have a lot of storage place. This will mostly be a concern for users that love to store a lot of things on their smartphone.

Overall: The Huawei Nova Y60 has features that stand out, but it also has major concerns that may cause users to choose a different smartphone completely. I would say it all comes down to the price of the Huawei Nova Y60. It is a good smartphone, but I cannot expect it can be sold at a high price with so many concerns. Thus, a lower price will make the Huawei Nova Y60 more attractive.

Huawei Nova 8

The main features that stand out for the Huawei Nova 8 are the following:

  • Design – The Huawei Nova 8 has a similar smartphone design compared to the new Huawei P50 series. This gives a user a glimpse of the future for unique and luxurious smartphone designs.
  • Front Camera – The Huawei Nova 8 has excellent front camera specs. Definitely a smartphone to consider taking excellent selfie photos or videos.
  • Rear Camera – The rear camera of the Huawei Nova 8 has good camera specs. Many other mid range smartphones that are popular now have the same rear camera specs. Thus, Huawei Nova 8 is another good camera mid range smartphone users can consider going for.
  • RAM – The RAM memory of the Huawei Nova 8 is fantastic. It is a smartphone for users that want a smartphone that run fast and smooth with many applications and data the same time.
  • Storage – Huawei Nova 8 has a good amount of on board storage memory. Many popular new mid range smartphones offer the same on storage memory on board. It looks like it is becoming the norm for the future smartphone memory size on mid range smartphones.
  • Weight – The Huawei Nova 8 is very light. This will satisfy users that prefer specifically using lightweight smartphones.

The main concerns for the Huawei Nova 8 are the following:

  • Battery Capacity – The battery life capacity of the Huawei Nova 8 is quite low compare to other popular mid range smartphones. Meaning the Huawei Nova 8 will require the need to recharge quicker than compared to other popular mid range smartphones. This may result users not to select the Huawei Nova 8 as their new smartphone.

Overall: The Huawei Nova 8 has quite impressive features and smartphone design. Even though its battery life capacity is quite low, the other features of the Huawei Nova 8 make it stand out more out of the mid range smartphone category. Definitely a smartphone to consider, especially in camera and storage memory specs.

Huawei Nova Y60 VS Huawei Nova 8

The main differences between the Huawei Nova Y60 and the Huawei Nova 8 are the following:

  • Weight – The Huawei Nova 8 is 14g lighter compared to the Huawei Nova Y60.
  • Design – Both the smartphone designs of the Huawei Nova 8 and the Huawei Nova Y60 are completely different compare to each other.
  • Front Camera – The Huawei Nova 8’s front camera specs are far greater compared to the Huawei Nova Y60’s front camera specs.
  • Rear Camera – The Huawei Nova 8’s rear camera specs wins hands down compare to the Huawei Nova Y60’s rear camera specs.
  • RAM – The Huawei Nova 8 has two RAM memory options and both are greater compare to the Huawei Nova Y60 RAM memory option.
  • Storage – The Huawei Nova 8 has double more storage memory on board compare to the Huawei Nova Y60 storage memory on board. Meaning the Huawei Nova 8 can store more information and data compare to the Huawei Nova Y60.
  • Battery Capacity – The Huawei Nova Y60 battery has 1200 mAh more battery capacity compare to the Huawei Nova 8’s battery. Meaning the Huawei Y60 will last longer before having the need to recharge compare to the Huawei Nova 8.

Conclusion

Both of the new Huawei Nova smartphones have some improvements in the Nova series. But, the one that stands the most out is the Huawei Nova 8.

The Huawei Nova 8 has a lot of good specs and a unique smartphone design. Definitely a smartphone design that will attract a lot of users that want this smartphone. The only concern is the battery capacity. Now in terms of battery capacity, the Huawei Nova Y60 is excellent.

However, the rest of the specs do not come close to other mid range smartphones or the Huawei Nova 8. The price point for the Huawei Nova Y60 might give it a better attraction. Remember that these new Huawei Nova smartphones are not on the GMS platform.

Glad this review comes the right time for you. I also feel the Huawei Nova Y60 specs are bit to low or limited. However, the Huawei Nova 8 is an excellent smartphone in terms of specs. The only sad part for the Huawei Nova 8 is its battery capacity. If the battery capacity was a bit better, then you have a real contender to watch out for in the smartphone market.

Hope you will enjoy your smartphone selection.

  2. Hmm…looks like some pretty solid phones. I am no expert on specifications of phones, only if the apps work and can I call on it.

In any case, these phones sound very effective and marketable. Thank you for the informative post. I do need to take a look at the reviews of others before I buy one of them.

I understand what you mean. I also prefer this method before I purchase anything to hear or read other customer reviews. Those reviews usually reveal something interesting that may be good for the product itself or even bad about the product.

If you want to know more if the platform of which the new Huawei smartphones will run on, will be compatible with your desired applications, please read the following post.

  3. Hey Burnheart,

Thanks for leaving such a detailed review. I think the Huawei Nova 8 looks amazing. I’m on a struggling student budget so I decided to go with the Huawei Nova 8 so as not to wreck the bank haha. I’m super excited for the ample storage on it, my current phone is only a 64GB and I swear I’m always running out of space. That is why I am not considering the Huawei Nova Y60 which is also amazing. It says the Huawei Nova 8 should come in the mail in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait!

  4. I have been following Huawei’s evolution and I must say that their products surprise me every day more. I have an old laptop and it’s RAM is 4 GB just as the Nova Y60 has. That is a really good spec. I was looking for a phone that was around this order and that would also be affordable. I have found it. Thank you!

It is amazing how quick technology evolves. Many smartphones run even faster compared to some laptops or computers. Thus, your smartphone become almost your personal work PC.

The Huawei Nova Y60 has a good amount of RAM memory. However, the Huawei Nova 8 has better RAM memory option out of the two. But in terms of price, the Huawei Nova Y60 will satsify users that have a limited budget to spend on a smartphone. Both are good choices and I can tell the Huawei Nova Y60 sounds like the one that caught your interest the most.

I hope you enjoy your smartphone selection and thank you taking the time to comment!

  5. I love how the Huawei Nova 8 has a 128GB storage capacity. That holds so much data and it comes in handy for people, like me, who work from their smartphones. I can also notice that it is not an expensive smartphone so that’s a great plus. It also has a own unique look that can compete with famous models like the iPhone and Samsung, which makes it seem fancier and professional.
